This is a convenience sample, not a census. We see the domains that visitors of this site chose to look up, which skews toward whatever those visitors care about — so treat the counts as "sites we have seen", never as this provider's market share or customer count. A host with thousands of real customers can show a handful of rows here simply because nobody has checked them.
A CDN in front of a site can mask the origin. When Cloudflare, Fastly or Akamai terminates the connection, the answering IP belongs to the CDN, not to the hosting provider — so some sites attributed to a CDN across this site are really hosted elsewhere, and some sites genuinely hosted here never show up because their CDN answers first. This is the single largest source of error in any hosting lookup, ours included.
Reverse-IP attribution is coarse on shared hosting. Many sites answer from one address, and the provider behind that address is what we record — accurate at the provider level, useless for telling which plan or which server a given site sits on.
